Talk about busy

I leave Boston, and now they choose to trot out all the rarely-heard masterpieces. Great. Next year, the BSO will perform

  • Mahler's Symphony No. 6
  • Saint-SaĆ«ns's Symphony No. 3 ("Organ")
  • Dutilleux's Symphony No. 2 ("Le Double")
And here's next year's plan for the Tanglewood Festival Chorus:
  • late October: Tippett, A Child of Our Time
  • early December: Stravinsky, Symphony of Psalms
  • mid January: Beethoven, Missa solemnis
  • late February: Schoenberg, Gurrelieder
  • early March: Beethoven, Symphony No. 9
  • mid April: Berlioz, Requiem
  • early May: Stravinsky, Oedipus Rex
That's just not fair. It really isn't. There should be a law against something like this.
